Personal cyber incidents differ from those that affect organizations both in harm and cause of loss. For example, few personal cyber incidents involve financial impacts of the same magnitude as those at organizations. In addition, the causes of loss on the personal side can be quite different—cyberbullying, social engineering, extortion/sextortion, and identity theft, to name a few. Another key difference is the emotional damage that a personal cyber incident can inflict.
